MP Bob Zimmer Elected Vice-Chair of the Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities

OTTAWA – Bob Zimmer, Member of Parliament for Prince George-Peace River-Northern Rockies, has been elected Vice-Chair of the Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities. As Vice-Chair, Mr. Zimmer will support the Chair of the committee and chair meetings when necessary.

“I am honoured to have been elected Vice-Chair of this important committee,” said Mr. Zimmer. “I look forward to examining the issues that touch the lives of all Canadians and to continue to provide a voice of reason for Canadian taxpayers. I would also like to congratulate MP Bryan May on his election as Chair and MP Niki Ashton on her election as Vice-Chair.”

The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities studies employment, labour, income security, skills development and disability issues, as well as programs administered by Employment and Social Development Canada. The Committee also administers the Centennial Flame Research Award.

In addition to his new role as Vice-Chair of the Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities, Mr. Zimmer is Deputy Critic for Families, Children and Social Development, Chair of the BC/Yukon Conservative Caucus, Chair of the National Prayer Breakfast, and Co-Chair of the All-Party Outdoors Caucus.
