OTTAWA – Bob Zimmer, Member of Parliament for Prince George-Peace River-Northern Rockies, issued the following statement regarding the BC Government’s decision to continue construction of the Site C Dam:
“It’s encouraging to hear that the BC Government has decided to proceed with this important project. Site C will continue to have a positive economic impact on our local economy through the jobs created, the growth of our local businesses and the overall sense of confidence in our community.”
The Site C Dam is a provincial project that was first initiated by the former BC Liberal Government. As part of the approval process, in 2014, it received federal environmental assessment approval following extensive consultations and based on scientific evidence. The decision included over 80 legally-binding conditions to be fulfilled by BC Hydro throughout the life of the project.
