MP Zimmer Appointed to the Standing Committee on Natural Resources

OTTAWA – Bob Zimmer, Member of Parliament for Prince George-Peace River-Northern Rockies, has been appointed to the Standing Committee on Natural Resources.

“I am honoured to have been appointed by Opposition Leader Erin O’Toole to sit on this important committee,” said Mr. Zimmer. “The natural resource sector is the backbone to our national economy. As we all know, it can and should play an important role in Canada’s economic recovery as we navigate the pandemic. I look forward to continuing to work with our local stakeholders and to provide a voice for Northern BC’s natural resource community on this committee.”

The Standing Committee on Natural Resources examines issues related to the four industrial sectors that constitute the mandate of the Department of Natural Resources: the energy sector, the forest sector, the minerals and metals sector, and the earth sciences sector. In addition to considering bills referred to it by the House of Commons, the Committee focuses on expenditures and activities of the organizations that are part of the Natural Resources portfolio.

In addition to his new role as a member of the Standing Committee on Natural Resources, Mr. Zimmer is Co-Chair of the Parliamentary Outdoor Caucus.
