Statement by MP Zimmer on Canfor’s Plan to Sell Fort Nelson Forest Tenure to Peak Renewables

OTTAWA – Bob Zimmer, Member of Parliament for Prince George-Peace River-Northern Rockies, issued the following statement regarding the announcement that Canfor and Peak Renewables have reached multi-year $30-million agreements involving the sale of Canfor’s forest tenure in Fort Nelson:

“This is great news for Fort Nelson and for British Columbia as a whole. I know that Mayor Gary Foster and Council have worked hard to promote forestry in the region and this announcement is an important step in revitalizing the industry and bringing vital jobs back to the community.

“Congratulations to Brian Fehr and Peak Renewables, as well as Don Kayne and Canfor for reaching this agreement. I look forward to the final approval of this deal and seeing the future benefits to our region.”

This agreement is in addition to Peak Renewables’ purchase of Canfor’s Fort Nelson mill assets in the third quarter of 2020.
